Biography

2019-20: Finished one of the best careers in King's women'ts tennis history as a junior, as she wen 12-3 in singles while posting an 8-5 doubles mark in 2019-20...went 7-2 in dual matches, while chalking up a 5-1 record in tournament play...finished her career with four straight singles win...won seven of her first nine matches of the season, finishing as the runner-up in the King's Invitational at the No. 1 position...repeated as the MAC Individual Champion at the No. 1 seed flight, defeating Agatha Malinowski of Stevens Institute of Technology 2-6, 6-2, 10-4 in the finals...of her straight set victories, she lost just seven sets in 10 matches...went 5-1 on the spring break trip to Florida in singles...was named as the MAC Player of the Week twice as a senior...won her last four doubles matches on her career, including an 8-2 win over Muskingum...started the year with an 8-2 victory over Cabrini with Alexis Zalutko...teamed with Zalutko in every match in doubles as a junior...went 1-1 in the MAC Doubles Championships in the fall, defeating Misericordia in the Round of 16 8-6...on her career, finished with a singles record of 49-11, which was the second-most wins in history...second-best winning percentage in singles in program history (.817)...one of only three MAC Individual champions in program history...King's finished the 2020 season 4-6 before the season was canceled on March 16, 2020 due to COVID-19 outbreak. 

2018-19: As a sophomore went 16-3 in singles play and 13-6 in doubles...Competed at No. 1 singles at the King's Invitational where she lost 8-6 in the finals...Won the title of 2019 MAC Individual Champion as the first seed after beating Wilkes' Dana Saliyev 6-2, 6-2 in the finals...Competed alongside Natalie Coffee at No. 1 doubles at MAC Championships making to the semifinals where they lost to eventual champions Vasarkovy and Saliyev of Wilkes 8-4...Named MAC Freedom "Player of the Week" twice (10/22 and 3/11)...Selected to the All-MAC First Team...King's had a 9-11 overall record with a 3-4 conference mark.

2017-18: As a freshman recorded a 16-4 record in singles play and a 10-8 record in doubles play ... As the second seed lost 6-0, 6-1 to top-seeded and eventual Champion Jordan Vasarkovy of Wilkes in the finals of number one singles at the Middle Atlantic Conference Individual Championships after defeating Allison Mattucci of Misericordia 6-0, 6-0 in the quarterfinals and Nicole DelRosso of FDU-Florham 6-1, 6-2 in the semifinals ... As the four seed lost 9-7 to Kelly Nguyen and Amber Achenbach of DeSales while teaming with Julia Keppel in the first round of number one doubles at the Middle Atlantic Conference Individual Championships ... Recorded a 12-3 singles record in dual matches including a 5-1 record in conference matches at number one singles ... Recorded a 5-5 overall record in doubles when playing with Julia Keppel including a 3-3 record in dual matches at number one doubles ... Recorded a 4-3 overall record in doubles when playing with Natalie Coffee including a 1-3 record in conference matches at number one doubles ... PRIOR TO KING'S: Was a three-time team MVP at Suffolk County High School along with five-time All-County selection and two-time All-State Runner Up...She was captain her senior year of the tennis team...Was the 2014 Suffolk County Champions...2013 Suffolk County Finalist...Six-time League/Division Champion...Member of the USTA Tournaments...President and Treasurer of National Honor Society.

PERSONAL: A physician assistant major ... Daughter of Heidi and Joe Fernandez...Sister Brook plays tennis at Le Moyne College in Syracuse, NY...Chose King's over Quinnipac University, Siena College, Wilkes University, SUNY Geneseo because, "The 5-Year Direct Entry PA program and the small class sizes."
