Entering his first season with the King's football team is assistant coach Derrell Johnson-Koulianos. Coach Johnson-Koulianos will mentor King's running backs and will also serve as the team's academic coordinator.
Coach Johnson is a former standout player at the University of Iowa where he was a four-year starter and is the school's all-time leader with 173 catches and second all-time with 2,616 receiving yards. He ranks third with 17 career touchdown receptions and stands fifth with 4,231 all-purpose yards. Johnson-Koulianos also led the Big 10 in and ranked eighth nationally in 2010 with a 29.3 yards per-return average. He was also a first-team All-Big 10 Coaches selection in 2010.
Affectionately know as DJK, he appeared on the November 9, 2009 cover of Sports Illustrated Magazine. He graduated from Iowa in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interdepartmental Studies with a focus on Recreational Management.
In 2010, he was named to the pre-season watch list for both the Paul Hornung and Fred Bilitnekoff awards and was an honorable mention all-American by College Football Insiders.
After graduation, he spent time with the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League and also with the Iowa Barnstormers of the Arena Football League.
A graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School in Youngstown, OH, he was a twotime first-team all-state selection and was the Ohio game MVP of the prestigious Big 33 All-Star game featuring the best graduated players in Pennsylvania versus the best in Ohio.
Johnson-Koulianos began his coaching career at Valley Forge Military Academy where he was the program's offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, prior to his arrival at Kings. He also served as the team's Academic Advisor.
He is the son of Tony and Lauren Koulianos and the brother of Stephen, Peter, and Anthony Koulianos. His girlfriend is Kayla Felty who is the head women's basketball Coach at Bryn Athyn College.
