Biography

In 2022-23, Matt Easterday completed his 14th year as the head coach of the men’s and women’s swimming teams at King's as well as aquatics director at the College. Coach Easterday was hired at King's on September 28, 2009. Easterday owns a wealth of swimming experience and literally grew up with the sport. His mother Kim was the head swimming coach at McDaniel College in Maryland for 33 seasons before retiring following the 2009-10 campaign. Easterday began swimming at age six and embarked on competitive swimming as a 10-year old

.At Kings Head Coach
  • While at King's, all but two individual school records have fallen including every King's women's swimming record on the books. 
  • Has been in charge of 14 MAC individual championships, with eight on the women's side and six on the men's side. 
  • Team has posted its best finish at the MAC Championships during his tenure. 
  • Named as the 2018 MAC Men's Swimming Coach of the Year. 
  • Has posted a dual meet record of 64-82 on the men's side, while earning a 77-80 mark on the women's side.

Program Milestones
  • Has seen the program break all 19 school records on the women's swimming side. 
  • Led the King's men's swimming program to 17 school records. 
  • Finished in the Top 5 as a squad in the MAC Championships for the first time in 2019.
  • Has seen 164 school records set during his tenure at King's.

Personal
  • Native of Sykesville, Maryland.
  • Attended Division I University of Maryland in 2000, where he was a varsity swimmer
  • Transferred to McDaniel College, where he swam for three seasons for his mother, Kim. 
  • Father was men's soccer and golf coach at McDaniel
  • Graduated from McDaniel with degree in business management with a minor in sports management. 
  • Holds team record in the 200 butterfly, and top 10 in multiple events. 
  • Two-time Maryland State Swimmer of the Year with Green Terror Aquatic Club. 
  • Lives in Wilkes-Barre with wife Kalli and kids Sophia and John.
