Biography

Josh Roosa was announced as the third head coach in program history on May 29, 2020, and the first full-time wrestling coach at King's. At the conclusion of the 2022-23 season, Roosa finished his third season at the helm of the Monarchs wrestling program and continues to see success and growth in his time with the red and gold.

Roosa returned to Northeast Pennsylvania after serving as an assistant coach and co-head assistant coach at Division I Appalachian State University. While at App State, Roosa was responsible for all on-campus recruiting, along with assisting with team and individual workouts, producing social media content, and assisting in fundraising. After two years as an assistant coach in Boone, Roosa was elevated to a role of co-head assistant coach before the 2017-18 season. In addition to the SoCon titles and NCAA qualifiers, he helped App State earn multiple top-25 national rankings, highlighted by a climb to No. 16 during the 2016-17 season.

Following the fourth straight SoCon title in 2018-19, the 2019-20 team had a school-record six NCAA Championships qualifiers while posting a 9-3 dual meet record. A young team with new starters at six positions led Division I wrestling with four dual meet shutouts, was one of only three Division I teams with at least four conference champions and was one of only six Division I teams that had all 10 starters finish the season with a winning record. Prior to his time at App State, Roosa was an assistant coach at Division I University of Buffalo for one season.   • Roosa helped re-establish King's College wrestling as a regional and national competitor.
  • Earned first dual match win of his career at King's against University of Pittsburgh - Bradford, 39-6, on December 11 in the King's Quad Match.
  • Led Kade Kravits (174) to a 4th place finish at the 2022 MAC Championships, 3rd place finish at the 2022 NCAA Southeast Regionals and a spot at the NCAA Division III National Tournament.
  • Saw great success in the 2022-23 season as three individuals record 20+ win seasons, five earned podium finishes at the 2023 including a silver medal from Kade Kravits, and five podium finishes at the 2023 NCAA Division III Southeast Regional Champoinships.

Personal
  • Native of Mountain Top, PA
  • 2013 graduate of Bloomsburg University, where he was a five-year scholarship wrestler. 
  • NCAA qualifier at 149, earning University Nationals All-American in 2013. 
  • Team captain of a Huskie squad that finished ranked 14th in the nation. 
  • Graduated from Bloomsburg with a B.A. in communication studies. 
  • Standout at local Crestwood High School, where he went 143-18 in his career. 
  • Four-time PIAA District 2 champion
  • Married to wife Rachael, and has two sons, Joseph and Kellan.
