Biography
Veteran tennis mentor Bill Eydler serves as the head coach of the King's men's and women's tennis teams. Eydler has just completed his 46th year as the college's head men's coach at the conclusion of the 2024-25 season. Eydler also returned as head coach of the women's tennis team in the 2013-14 season after previously serving as head coach of the women's the team for 17 years, and he has just completed his 29th season as the head of the women's program.

At King's Head Coach

  • Eydler has led the Monarch men to a 513-398 career mark in 45 seasons at the head of the Monarch men's tennis program.
  • On the men's side, Eydler has coached a singles and doubles pair NCAA Division III National Qualifiers, both in the 1992 season. He also adds eight MAC Singles Champions, six MAC Singles Runner-Ups, five MAC Doubles Champions, and eight MAC Doubles Runner-Ups to add to six team MAC Championship seasons and 10 MAC Runner-Up season.
  • On the women's side, Eydler has coached a MAC Freedom Player  of the Year, two MAC Freedom Rookies of the Year, two MAC Women's Tennis Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year, three MAC Freedom Singles Champions, four MAC Freedom Singles Runner-Ups, two MAC Freedom Doubles Runner-Ups, and three team MAC Freedom semifinal appearances, and two team MAC Freedom Runner-Up finishes.

  • Earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from King's College in 1970.
  • 1982 graduate of Columbia Pacific University with a master's in Physical Education Administration.
  • Awarded an Honorary Doctor of Public Service from Ansted University, British Virgin Islands of the United Kingdom for meritorious contributions in coaching and athletic administration in 2004.
  • Retired teacher as a math specialist in the Wilkes-Barre Aera School District.
  • Served as the Director of the Wilkes-Barre Department of Parks and Recreation for the past 43 years.
  • Won many tournaments on the local level and in the Northeast as a player, earning MSTA men's age 35 doubles ranking of #10 in 1984.
  • Named to the Advisory Board of Four Star Tennis Academy and has served in the Lehigh Valley Tennis Association, a division of the USTA, for several years.
  • Is a well-known official, tournament director, and a USTA/NTRP Verifier and a United States National Tennis Academy certified teaching professional.
  • Inducted into the Luzerne County Sports Hall of Fame in 2008.
  • Resides in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. with his wife Diane.
