Biography

Ed Kopec returns to the King's cross country staff and just completed his sixth season in 2024. Kopec, a 2008 King's College graduate, is considered one of the best runners in program history and was named to the Middle Atlantic Conference All-Century Men's Cross Country Team for the 2003-2011 era in 2012 as part of the MAC 100-year celebration. He works full-time in the Wyoming Valley West School District.

  • 2013 graduate of Wilkes University with a Masters in Special Education
  • 2008 graduate of King's College with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education
  • Four-year member of Cross Country team
  • 2007-08 MAC Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year
  • 2007-08 King's Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year
  • Three-time All-MAC Honoree
  • Placed fourth at 2005 MAC Championships as a sophomore, the highest male finish for a Monarch at the conference championships in program history
  • Finished 14th as a junior in 2006 while battling injuries before coming back strong to finish sixth as a senior in 2007
  • Three-time MAC Academic Honor Roll selection
  • 2004 graduate of Wyoming Valley West High School
  • Teacher in Wyoming Valley West School District, spent nine years in elementary school before moving up to middle school where he will begin fifth year in 2021-2022 academic year
  • Numerous district medalist while coaching distance runners for WVW track and field
  • Led WVW junior high cross country team to conference championship and program's first undefeated season in 2016
  • Trained many runners who have won district medals and qualified for PIAA State Championship Meet
  • Resides in Shavertown, PA with wife Tiffany, and their two sons Edward and Nolan
  • Avid sports fan that enjoys cheering on Notre Dame, the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Indianapolis Colts, the Philadelphia 76ers, and Team USA
