RACE BENNETT

Biography

On Friday afternoon, Executive Director of Athletics and Recreation Andy Orlowski announced Race Bennett as the next Head Men's Ice Hockey Coach. Bennett becomes the program's third full-time head coach in the young program's history and began his duties on September 4 ahead of the 2025-26 season.

Previous Coaching Experience
  • Assistant Coach, Men's Ice Hockey, Wilkes University (2024-25).
    • Helped lead the Colonels to the 2024-25 regular-season MAC title and appeared in the top-20 NCAA Division III rankings as high as 11th.
    • In charge of special teams which included the third-ranked power play.
    • Assisted in day-to-day operations such as recruiting, scouting, practice plans, travel logistics, budgeting, and fostering team culture.
  • Head Professional, Collegaite, and Youth Instructor, Paul Vincent Hockey (2017-Present).
    • Led group sessions for athletes ages 5-to-25 with group size varying from 10 to 30 players.
  • Assistant Coach, Boys Prep Hockey, The Albany Academies (2023-Present).
    • Taught prep-level players, coordinating individualized and group instruction.
  • Owner, Boone Bennett Hockey (2024-Present).
    • Recruit and coach players and manage budgets.
Personal
  • 2023 graduate of Colorado State University with a degree in interdisciplinary liberal arts with a minor in business.
  • Competed for the Colorado State University men's ice hockey team in spring of 2022.
  • Attended Salem State University from 2019-21 with a focus in sports management and a minor in coaching.
  • Competed for the Salem State University men's ice hockey team from 2019-2021.
