KING'S VOLLEYBALL FALLS TO FDU IN KEY LEAGUE GAME

WILKES-BARRE – The King's College volleyball team came up short in an important Freedom Conference matchup Tuesday night, falling to visiting FDU-Florham 3-0. The Devils were victorious by scores of 25-23, 25-21, 25-15.

With the win, FDU improved to 18-13 overall and 5-1 in Freedom Conference play. King's, meanwhile, slipped to 18-7 overall and 4-2 in league games.

King's played well the first two games and had opportunities to win each game. In the opener, the teams were tied 22-22 before FDU outscored the Lady Monarchs 3-1 the rest of the way to squeeze out the win. In the second game the contest was tied at 19-19 but FDU again came on strong down the stretch by outdueling King's 7-2 the remainder of the game. In the third game, however, King's was unable to generate an offense early on and fell behind 20-8. The Lady Monarchs attempted to rally and closed to within 23-15 but the Devils shut the door by winning the final two points to secure the victory.

Samantha Garrigues added 30 assists while Kaitlyn Malshefski contributed 10 kills and three block assists.
