KING'S-WILKES FIELD HOCKEY GAME TO BENEFIT BREAST CANCER
(Play Pink Game Set for Tuesday at Artillery Park)

WILKES-BARRE – The King's College and Wilkes University field hockey teams will play for something far greater than a spot in the Freedom Conference standings, or even local bragging rights, when the teams square off Sunday November 2 at 1:00 p.m. at Artillery Park, a reschedule from Tuesday's original date.

While both squads have a vested interest in the impact the final score will have on post-season playoff seedings, the rivals are teaming up to fight breast cancer. King's and Wilkes will “Play for Pink” in an effort to raise money to help fight the disease.

Players will be wearing “Play Pink” tee shirts during their pre-game warm-ups.    Also, the Wilkes playing field will have the boundary lines and midfield logo painted in pink.

Both teams have been actively seeking pledges and have already sold over 200 tee shorts. Cash pledges will continue to be accepted before and after the game.

According to King's head coach Cheryl Ish, individuals may sponsor a player or one of the respective teams  by pledging $3.00 for every goal scored (both teams combined) or by pledging 50 cents for every shot on goal (both teams combined).  Flat donations will also be accepted.

To make a pledge, contact a member of the King's field hockey team or Coach Ish at 570-208-5900, ext. 5756. Pledges can also be made by contacting any member of the Wilkes University team or head coach Sara Myers at 570-408-4018.

Donations do not need to be made prior to the game. Players and coaches will accept donations in the days and weeks following the contest.

King's enters the game with a 13-3 overall record while standing 4-2 in the Freedom Conference standings. Wilkes, meanwhile, is 14-1 overall and 5-0 in league play.
