King's Soccer Hosting ECAC Tournament Saturday/Sunday

KING'S HOSTING ECAC SOUTHERN REGION TOURNAMENT SATURDAY/SUNDAY
 
WILKES-BARRE--- The King's College men's soccer team will be hosting the final three games of the 2008 Eastern College Athletic Conference' Southern Region Tournament Saturday and Sunday. The semi-finals will be played Saturday at 11:00am and 1:30pm and Sunday the championship game will be played at 1:00pm. All games will be played at McCarthy Stadium at the Robert L. Betzler Athletic Complex.
 
Ticket prices for each day have been set at $5 for adults, $4 for students and $2 for students. Children under age-six shall be admitted free
 
The first semi-final game will pit second-seeded Frostburg State against third-seeded Catholic at 11:00am. The second game on Saturday will be top-seeded King's versus fifth-ranked Wilkes at 1:00pm. The winners of the semi-final matches will advance to the finals at 1:00pm on Sunday.

Due to a staffing shortage, the game on Sunday will not have live stats, as men's basketball is hosting a tip-off tournament.
 
#1 King's Notes:
After a first-round win over eight-seeded Widener, King's has a 14-1-5 overall record, and earned the top-seed in the ECAC Southern Region Tournament. The high-powered offense is led by senior Cameron Audette, who has scored a record-breaking 20 goals, as well as nine assists for a season-record 49 points. Second in scoring is fellow senior Mark Timko with seven goals and four assists totaling 18 points. Freshman Joe Bender has also chipped in 18 points off six goals and six assists while freshman Billy Elliott has also contributed five goals and one assist for 11 points. Sophomore Dan Carle rounds out the scoring leaders with four goals and three assists for 11 points. In goal for King's, Tim Kelly has made 68 saves in 17 games while playing in 1,560 minutes. Kelly has an 11-1-4 record this season.
 
#2 Frostburg State Notes:
After downing seventh-seeded Washington & Jefferson, the Bobcats enter the semi-finals with a 14-4-1 record and the second seed in the tournament. On offense, senior Adam Gracia paces Frostburg with 11 goals and six assists for 28 points. Junior Ricky Marchant has scored 10 goals and three assists for 23 points while fellow junior Sean Jones has netted eight goals and six assists 22 points. Sophomore Andres Vega and junior Steven Jacobson round out the offense with Vega scoring five goals and two assists for 12 points and Jacobson with four goals and two assists for 10 points. Standing in the net for Frostburg is freshman Jay Herford, who has started all 19 matches for the Bobcats this season. He has played in 1,660 minutes of soccer, accumulating 57 saves and an 83 percent save average. Herford has a 14-4-1 record on the year, including seven shut-outs.
 
#3 Catholic Notes:
      The Cardinal's downed seventh-seeded Wesley and improved to 13-6 on the season and earned the third seed in the ECAC Southern Region Tournament. Leading the Cardinals on offense is junior Matt Brady, who has found the net 12 times and has seven assists for 31 points. Second in scoring is sophomore Kevin Duffy with nine goals and three assists for 21 points. Junior Brian Pappas has scored eleven points from five goals and one assist while freshman Michael DiMarco has 10 points on four goals and two assists. Quinn Daly is the net minder for Catholic University. He has played in 1,708 minutes and in that time made 56 saves.
 
#5 Wilkes Notes:
After finishing second in the Freedom Conference tournament, Wilkes was selected as the fifth-seed and beat PSU-Behrend 2-1 in OT to reach the semi-finals. The Colonels have an overall record of 11-7-3. On the offensive side of the ball, junior Greg Miller has scored nine goals and four assists for 22 points. Fellow junior Bret Osswald has netted five goals and two assists for 12 points. Also scoring 12 points is sophomore Doug Moore with five goals and two assists. Wilkes has a very balanced offense, with two plays with seven points, two more with six points and another two with five points. In the net for Wilkes, senior TJ Baloga has started in all 21 contests this year and has played in 1,834 minutes. In that time, he has made 74 saves and has a record of 11-7-3. Baloga also has a 1.08 goals per game average.
