Field Hockey Hosting FDU in Freedom Tourney Opener

KING'S FIELD HOCKEY HOSTING FDU IN PLAYOFF OPENER
 
WILKES-BARRE – The King's College field hockey team will officially begin defense of its Freedom Conference championship when the Lady Monarchs open up post-season play against visiting FDU-Florham Monday at 2:30 p.m. at Betzler Fields.
 
Tickets have been set by the Middle Atlantic Conferences Office at $5 for adults, $4 for seniors, and $2 for students, while children under age six will be admitted free of charge.

King's enters the post-season with a 14-4 overall record and are the fourth seed in the Freedom Conference playoffs with a 5-3 mark. FDU-Florham enters the tournament with an overall record of 9-10 while earning the fifth seed in the Freedom Conference Tournament with a 4-4 record.

Senior Debbie Wychock leads King's in scoring with a school-record 64 points on 29 goals and six assists. Freshman Jenera Quinones follows with 27 points on 10 goals and seven assists. Senior Christina Glenn has 22 points on seven goals and eight assists while sophomore Danielle Terracciano has also tallied 22 points on eight goals and six assists. Freshman Shawna Walp contributes 15 points on seven goals and one assist while fellow rookie Heather Kozimor has 11 points on five goals and one assist. Sophomore Candice Russ chips in with 10 points on four goals and two assists. In the goal, sophomore Erin McGinley has a 2.62 goals against average with 97 saves.
 
Senior Christina Fabian tops the squad with 28 points on 12 goals and four assists. Junior Alex DeVito follows with19 points on eight goals and three assists while fellow junior Jackie Gale adds 11 points on three goals and five assists. Senior Karlee Teeling has tallied eight points on three goals and two assists while freshman Laura Core contributes six points on three goals while senior Alyssa Worbetz chips in with five points on one goal and three assists. In goal, senior Jamie SanFillipo has a 1.65 goals against average with 111 saves on the year while posting three shutout victories.
 
The winner will advance to Wednesday's semi-final round to face top-seeded Wilkes, which received a first-round bye. The game will be played at Wilkes' Artillery Park in Edwardsville, Pa.
