KING'S VOLLEYBALL OUSTED FROM PLAYOFFS BY WILKES

WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College women's volleyball team saw its season come to a screechng halt as the Lady Monarchs were eliminated from the Freedom Conference playoffs with a disappointing 3-1 loss to host Wilkes University Monday at the Marts Center.

Wilkes, seeded fourth in the tournament, won by scores of 25-23, 18-25, 25-22, 25-21 to advance to the semi-finals while improving its season mark to 12-19. King's, seeded fifth, closed out its season with a 21-9 record.

King's hurt itself with poor defensive play, totaling 16 receiving errors in the match while making costly passing mistakes in the final stages of games one and three that cost the Lady Monarchs both games.

Kaitlyn Malshefski paced King's with 13 kills and nine digs. Katie Doss followed with nine kills and 11 digs. Kat Clerici added eight kills and five digs. Danielle Belfanti had 19 digs while Samantha Garrigues dished out 33 assists. Tanya Rabenold tallied 12 digs.
