KING'S WOMEN LOOK TO EXTEND WINNING STREAK OVER LADY COLONELS
(Lady Monarchs have won 22 straight games vs. Wilkes dating to 1996-97 season)
WILKES-BARRE -- When the King's College women's basketball team hosts Wilkes University Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. in Scandlon Gymnasium, the Lady Monarchs will enter the matchup with two goals in mind.
The primary goal will be to win the first Freedom Conference game of the season on its home court. The secondary goal will be for King's to extend its 11-year winning streak over the Lady Colonels.
Meanwhile the King's and Wilkes Student Athlete Advisory Committees will be teaming up to hold a food drive. Both adults and students will be asked to donate a minimum of one canned food product in lieu of paid admission. Tickets are set at $4.00 for adults and $2.00 for students.
The game will also be available on the Internet through LiveStats, a statistical feed that provides the viewer live game statistics and play-by-play. LiveStats is available at the following link:

The Lady Monarchs enter the contest with a 1-3 record after a 57-54 loss at Widener University on Monday. The Lady Monarchs have won 22 straight games against Wilkes with the last Lady Colonel victory coming by a 63-57 margin on February 11, 1997 in Scandlon Gym.
Wilkes, meanwhile, may have its best opportunity in years against a young King's squad that returns just two starters among the five returning players who saw action as reserves last season. Factor in eight freshmen on the Lady Monarch roster and King's will take its most inexperienced squad in years into the cross-town rivalry.
The Lady Colonels stand at 3-2 and have already surpassed their victory total from the 2007-08 season when Wilkes finished the year with a 2-23 mark.
King's is paced by senior guard Kaitlyn Fiorino, a returning first-team All-Freedom Conference selection, who averages 18.3 points and 5.8 rebounds with 12 three-point field goals.
