KING'S WOMEN'S BASKETBALL FALLS AT ARCADIA, 57-56

GLENSIDE -- The host Arcadia University women's basketball team built a four-point halftime advantage and never relinquished the lead as the Scarlet Knights upset King's College 57-56 Saturday in Glenside.

With the win, Arcadia improved to 7-13 overall and 4-5 in Freedom Conference play. King's, meanwhile, fell to 11-11 and 5-4 in league action.

With King's holding a 25-24 lead with 2:25 remaining in the first half following a bucket by Kaitlyn Fiorino, Arcadia closed out the opening stanza with a5-0 surge to take a 59-54 at the break.

The Knights would extend the lead in the second half when Arcadia went on a 15-5 run to build a 40-29 lead with 15:56 remaining in the contest.

King's would battle back and cut the lead to one point on five occasions, the last coming at 57-56 with 1:03 left but could never get over the hump.

The Lady Monarchs missed a chance to win the game when Jenna Palumbo missed on a three-pointer with 0:22 on the clock and Andrea Hochstuhl failed on a three-pointer of her own with 0:02 left as the Knights held on for the win.

Caitlin Sparks led Arcadia with 14 points while Kim Milligan and Cynthia Rivera netted 10 each.

King's, which played without starting forward Kaitlyn Malshefski who missed the game with an illness, was led by Kaitlyn Fiorino with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Fiorino, a junior guard-forward, also netted her 1,000th career point in the loss. Andrea Hochstuhl added 18 points and 13 rebounds while Jenna Palumbo would chip in with 13 points.

No other Lady Monarch player scored over two points as just six King's players reached the scoring column. The Lady Monarchs' normally strong three-point shooting game was off all day as King's went just 3-of-19 from long range
