KING'S BASEBALL TEAM SPLITS DOUBLEHEADER WITH MARYWOOD

WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College baseball team used 23 hits in game one to savage a split with Marywood University Sunday afternoon at Betzler Fields.

With the split, King's stands at 13-14 overall while Marywood is 11-12 overall.

In game one, King's bats came out on fire scoring 11 runs in the first three innings of play to take an 11-3 advantage. Jon Venarchick led the attack with four hits, three runs batted in, and three runs scored. J.R Graver, Pat McGlynn and Gracjan Kraszewski each added three hits.

Tom Rozelle picked up the win on the mound for the Monarchs with five innings pitched, eight hits, and three earned runs.

In game two, Marywood's Bill Hall pitched a complete game nine-hitter to pick up the win. Hall allowed four runs with two strikeouts.

J.R. Graver and Gracjan Kraszewski each had home runs for King's. Joe Tucker added two hits in the loss.

King's will return to action Tuesday when the Monarchs travel to PNC Field in Moosic, Pa. for a game against Penn State Scranton at 4:00 pm.
