KING'S COLLEGE SOCCER SHUTS OUT AGAIN

WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College men's soccer team put another shut-out in the books again today, when they hosted the Griffins of Gwynedd-Mercy College. Of the six games played by the Monarchs, only one opponent has found the back of the net. The game was originally scheduled to be played at Gwynedd-Mercy, but weather shifted the game to Wilkes-Barre Sunday afternoon.
At the end of 90 minutes of play, King's won their sixth straight game. The only difference between this game and the previous five is that the goalie, sophomore Tim Kelly, was forced to make saves. He made four of them to seal the victory. 

On the offensive side of the ball, great passing and field vision helped propel King's to the win. Five different played scored for the Monarchs. Cameron Audette continued his impressive season 16:19 seconds into the match when he started off to the right, cut back to his left and taking a great left-footed shot for a goal. Kevin Moulton finished the half with a great shot he tucked the ball into the top corner. Ryan Symons was on the opposite side of the field when he sent the ball in, and was credited with the assist. 

In the second half, King's did not stop shooting. The Monarchs took 16 total shots today, eleven of them were on goal. Freshman Billy Elliott scored his second goal of the season, when he deflected the ball with his head on a pass from Mark Timko. Grant Parsons followed up ten minutes later with a cross from Audette that Parsons simply tapped in the goal. 

Setting up the final goal of the game, freshman Joe Bender wound up and faked a shot. He then passed the ball to midfielder Kyle Rowan who put the ball past the goalie, who bit on the fake and was across the cage.

The Monarchs are back at it again this Tuesday when they host SUNY New-Paltz. Game time is set for 4:00pm at the Betzler Athletic Complex.
