KING'S COLLEGE SOCCER WINS 8th STRAIGHT

WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College men's soccer team blanked host Alfred University tonight for their 8th straight win of the season. The score, 3-0, gives King's their 6th shut out of the year. King's improves to 8-0 while Alfred falls to 0-8.

King's first goal was scored just 14 minutes into the game. Kevin Moulton took a throw in, tossing it towards the Alfred goal. In the scrum that ensued, a Saxon player kicked the ball into the goal, resulting in an own goal.

Freshman Billy Elliott tallied another goal at 60:03, his third this season. Coming off the game winner against SUNY New-Paltz, Elliott gave the Monarchs a little bit of breathing room late in the second half. Moulton recorded the assist on the goal. The final goal of the evening came at 66:36 on a shot taken by Dan Horn. The goal was assisted by Joe Bender

The Monarchs defense was able to hold Alfred University to just nine shots the entire game. Net minder Richard Melber completed the shut out, recording just one save on the night.

King's next game will be this Wednesday at Moravian College. Game time is set for 4:00pm. The next Monarch home game will be September 30th against PSU Harrisburg, at 7:00pm.
