KING'S WRESTLING FALLS IN DAY TWO OF BUDD WHITEHILL DUALS
WILLIAMSPORT--- In the second day of the Budd Whitehill National Duals, King's came up short in both matches, including one that required a rule book.
The Monarchs fell to Lycoming College 27-13, then lost to Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) in a bizarre 22-22 tie, but after five previous tie-breaking criteria could not determine a winner, rule 12.6 of the NCAA wrestling rulebook was used to make RIT the winner. The rule states that if the match is tied after rules 12.1-12.5, the team with the fewest forfeits wins the match. King's had a forfeit at 141 while RIT made none and won the match.
Individual winners for the Monarchs were Taylor Green, who picked up two wins at 157, including a pin in the RIT match, and Zach Wilkinson added two more decisions to his record at 184. Heavyweight Chris Rash also earned a pin against RIT and a decision in the Lycoming Match. At 133, Anthony Dietrick picked up a major decision 15-1 in the Lycoming bout and another win in the RIT match.
The Monarchs will be back in action Tuesday night when the make the short trip to the University of Scranton. The match is set to begin at 7:30pm.
