MONARCH WRESTLERS FALL TO RANKED LYCO
WILLIAMSPORT --- Having faced the Lycoming Warriors once already this season at the Budd Whitehill National Duals two weeks ago, King's fell 27-9 to the #25 ranked Warriors. Senior Zach Wilkinson continued his 10 match win streak, with his last loss coming back on November 22nd against Hunter College.
With the loss, the Monarchs slip to 7-10 on the season, while the Warriors improve to 11-6.
Lycoming was able to jump out to a 13-0 lead in the first four matches, picking up decisions at 125 from Jimmy Courturiaux and Eric Grecco at 133 before the Warriors Tom Barger snagged a 9-1 major decision. The Warriors also picked up three team points at 149 from a decision at Mike Maurer in a 7-0 win.
But the Monarchs were able to get on the board at 157 when Taylor Green earned a 9-5 decision over Zach Frederick to get the score to 13-3. At 165, ninth ranked Chris Dahlheimer increased the Warrior lead to 18-3 with a technical fall, coming in the third period. The first pin of the night came at the 174 pound class when Lewis Snover got caught on his back two minutes in to the first period against Troy Hayre.
Wilkinson was able to pick up another three points at 184 in an 8-4 decision over Kyle Crouthamel. Tonight's match was the second time Wilkinson defeated Crouthamel this season. The Monarchs were able to pick up a final victory in the heavyweight class with Chris Rash picking up a 7-1 decision over Richard Ausem.
The Monarchs are back in action on Thursday of this week when they host Muhlenberg College in just their second home dual meet this season. The match is set to begin at 7:00 p.m.
