LADY MONARCH CAGERS FALL TO DESALES SECOND-HALF OUTBURST

CENTER VALLEY -- Host DeSales University broke open a close game at the half with a big second-half outburst as the 16th ranked Bulldogs posted a 64-44 victory over King's College in a Freedom Conference matchup Wednesday in Center Valley.

With the win, DeSales improved to 13-2 overall and 7-1 in Freedom Conference play.  King's, meanwhile, slipped to 6-11 and 4-4 in league competition.

King's trailed DeSales 29-24 at the half when Kaitlyn Fiorino connected on a long three-pointer with 0:02 on the clock.  The Lady Monarchs were unable to carry that momentum into the second half as the Bulldogs came out of the locker room and immediately went on a 12-4 run over the first 4:08  to build a
41-28 with 15:52 remaining.

The Lady Monarchs fought back and cut the lead to 43-35 with 12:54 on the clock. From there, King's went scoreless over the next 4:02 as DeSales extended the lead to 51-35 with 8:52 left in the contest. The Bulldogs kept the pressure on and stretched the advantage to 64-41 on a pair of foul shots by Caitlin MIller with 2:51 to play.

The Lady Monarchs shot just 23.1 (12-52) percent from the field and committed 21 turnovers compared to 16 for DeSales. Fiorino led King's with 13 points, including three three-pointers. Brittany Muscatell followed with 10 points and five rebounds while Krystina Durako added eight points and six rebounds.

Kim Rarick paced the Bulldogs with 16 points while Miller and Kaila Wiand chipped in with 10 points each.

King's returns to action Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. home contest against FDU-Florham in Scandlon Gymnasium.
