MEN'S SOCCER BLANKS DELAWARE VALLEY COLLEGE, 5-0
DOYLESTOWN, PA - - Joey Bender scored two goals and added an assist to power the King's College men's soccer team to a 5-0 victory over host Delaware Valley College, Saturday in Doylestown.
With the win, King's improves to 10-2 overall and a 2-0 Freedom conference mark while Delaware Valley drops to 6-5-1 and 0-2 in conference play.
King's took a quick 2-0 lead as Bender was able to connect from two assist from Alex Martino, netting back-to-back goals in the first half of play. Alex Henery gave the Monarchs the 3-0 lead scoring his first goal of the year at the 32:09 mark.
Rob McGuiness connected on with 3:15 left in the half scoring a through ball from Yeudi Maldonado to give the Monarchs the 4-0 lead. Martino would connect with a goal of his own with a helper from Bender at 32:11.
King's outshot Delaware Valley 17-10, while DVC had the edge in corners 5-3. Andrew O'Shura and Richard Melber both split time in the net for the Monarchs, with O'Shura making two saves. For the Aggies D.J. Meisinger and Steve Richtmyer both split time with Richtmyer notching five saves.
The Monarchs will next host DeSales University for conference action at McCarthy Stadium at Robert L. Betzler field on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
