KING'S VOLLEYBALL DEFEATS MANHATTANVILLE 31, CLERICI BREAKS SCHOOL-RECORD FOR TOTAL BLOCKS

WILKES-BARRE — Senior middle hitter Kat Clerici set a new school record for career blocks as the King's College women's volleyball team posted a 3-1 Freedom Conference victory over visiting Manhattanville College Wednesday in Scandlon Gymnasium.

King's, which won by scored of 25-10, 25-19, 16-25, 25-15, improved 17-7 and 3-2 in the Freedom Conference while Manhattanville slipped to 5-12 and 0-5 in league play.

Clerici entered the matchup tied with 372 total blocks, tied with the mark set by Michelle Simcoe from 1992-95. Clerici would break the record in the first game, rejecting a Manhattanville kill attempt.  She would finish the match with four total blocks, upping her career mark to 346 blocks in her four-year career. Clerici also posted 12 kills and two aces on the night.

Kaitlyn Malshefski added 13 kills and three digs while Kelly Greenway distributed 36 assists. Danielle Belfanti chipped in with 25 digs for the Lady Monarchs.

King's will return to action on Saturday when the Lady Monarchs travel to Whitter, California for a tri-match with Chapman College and host Whittier at 12:00 p.m. And 2:00 p.m. PST.
