KING'S VOLLEYBALL GOES 1-1 AFTER FIRST DAY OF ONEONTA INVITATIONAL
ONEONTA, NY -- The King's College volleyball team split its first two matches during ghe first day of the Oneonta Invitational at SUNY-Oneonta on Friday.
The Lady Monarcsh dropped the opener to Oneonta 3-1, by scores of 25-11, 14-25, 25-22, 25-18. King's then rebounded to down St. Joseph's (NY) 3-1 by scores of 25-18, 25-20, 24-26, 25-21. With the split, King's stands at 13-6, leaving head coach Bernie Kachinko three victories shy of reaching the coveted 400-win plateau.
Against Oneonta, Kat Clerici led the way with 13 kills while Danielle Belfanti followed with 23 digs and eight service points. Emily Kline posted six kills while Colleen Grosenick tallied five kills. Kelly Greenway distributed 29 assists while Shannon Ellis and Jillian Foster chipped in with eiht and seven digs respectively.
In the match against St. Joseph's, Cleri posted a team-high 20 kills while Kline and Kaitlyn Malshefski followed with 11 and 10 kills respectively. Greenway garnered 32 assists while Belfanti totaled 24 digs. Ellis chipped in with 11 digs.
King's will resume play in the tournament Saturday at 11:30 a.m. against opponent to be determined following Friday evening's contests.
