Women's Soccer Loses Conference Matchup to Wilkes

WILKES WOMEN'S SOCCER DEFEATS KING'S
 
WILKES-BARRE -- Julissa Reed scored a pair of goals and host Wilkes University built a 3-0 halftime lead as the Lady Colonels registered a 5-0 victory over visiting King's in a Freedom Conference matchup Tuesday at the Ralston Complex.

With the win, Wilkes improved to 5-7-3 overall and 1-2-2 in Freedom Conference play while King's fell to 4-12 overall and 0-5 in league competition.

Reed scored the first two goals of the game, the first off an assist from Taryn Hallowell 6:37 into the match and the second off a pass by Katy Fissel at 19:15. Wilkes took a 3-0 into the break when Meghan Clementson knocked in a rebound 5:16 later.

In the second half, Wilkes put the game away when Fissel struck net just 2:45 into the final frame while Jenna Sargent scored at 58:30.

Wilkes outshot King's 19-5 and held a 7-0 advantage in corner kicks.  Lady Monarch starting goalie Rachael Donatiello played the first half, making five saves, while Melissa D'Aniello played the second half, also posting five stops.

King's returns to action Saturday with an 11:00 a.m. road game at FDU-Florham in Madison, NJ.
