KING'S FIELD HOCKEY FALLS TO DESALES IN REGULAR-SEASON FINALE, 3-2
 
CENTER VALLEY – Kelsey Stowhouer scored a pair of goals and Jamie Matthews added the game-winner with 8:41 left in the contest as the DeSales University field hockey team posted a 3-2 upset victory over visiting King's College Friday in Center Valley.
 
With the win, DeSales concluded its season with a 8-11 mark and 2-5 in Freedom Conference play. King's, meanwhile, fell to 9-8 and 4-3 in league games.
 
King's missed out on a golden opportunity to take a 1-0 lead at 5:11 into the game but Candice Russ's shot on a penalty stroke sailed wide to keep the game scoreless. DeSales pushed across the first goal at 11:36 into the contest when Strowhouer scored unassisted. King's tied the score at 1-1 at the 28:11 mark on unassisted goal by Candice Russ as the teams entered the halftime break deadlocked.

In the second stanza, King's appeared to take command when Shawna Walp scored unassisted at 46:53.
 
DeSales, however, countered when Strowhouer struck net following a pass by Carla Nunez at 52:10 to knot the score at 2-2. The Bulldogs would then score what proved to be the winning goal when Matthews scored unassisted at 61:19 to push the score to 3-2.  

With 2:00 left in the game, King's scored what appeared to be the tying goal on a deflection, but officials ruled there was no deflection on the play and the played toward goal was just outside the circle, thus disallowing the goal.

King's controlled play, outshooting DeSales 18-5 while holding a commanding 12-3 advantage in penalty corners.
 
Lady Monarch goalie Erin McGinley made one save on the day while Bulldog keeper Victoria DelToro was solid in posted eight stops.
 
King's is seeded third in the Freedom Conference Tournament and will travel crosstown to meet Wilkes University Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Artillery Park in Edwardsville.
