KING'S FIELD HOCKEY FALLS TO ALVERNIA

READING – Janelle Lynch scored three goals to lead the host Alvernia University field hockey team to a 4-2 victory over King's College in a non-conference pairing Monday in Reading.

With the loss, King's fell to 7-4 while Alvernia improved to 6-5.

Lynch scored the first goal of the game at 13:34 but King's would send the game into a 1-1- halftime tie when Danielle Terracianno scored at the 29:20 mark. Alvernia came out of the break and tallied two quick goals, the first from Lynch at 39:50 and the second by Katy Eby just 2:07 later to build a 3-1 lead. King's cut the lead to 3-2 when Candice Russ converted a penalty stroke at 54:01, but Alvernia put the game away when Lynch tallied her third score at 63:45.

King's controlled the game statistically, outshooting Alvernia 22-14 and holding a 14-6 advantage in penalty corners, but the Lady Monarchs were unable to convert their chances, thanks in part to Alvernia keeper Abby Ebby who made 12 saves on the day. Erin McGinley posted six stops for the Lady Monarchs.

King's will next host Delaware Valley Friday at 4:00 p.m. at Betzler Fields.
