MEN'S SOCCER FALLS TO TOP-SEEDED MANHATANVILLE 1-0
PURCHASE, NY -- Dan Carlryd scored the lone goal of the game with 27:17 left in the contest as the top-seeded Manhattanville College men's soccer team posted a 1-0 victory over fourth-seeded King's College in the opening round of the Freedom Conference Tournament Wednesday in Purchase, NY.
With the win, Manhattanville improved to 13-4-1 on the year and advanced to Saturday's conference title game. King's, meanwhile, saw its season end with a 11-7-1 mark.
After a scoreless first half, the Valiants pushed across what proved to be the deciding goal when Carlryd scored following short crossing pass from Keston George in front of the Monarch net.
Manhattanville owned a 29-9 advantage in shots, but few were quality shots as just 10 were on goal. The Monarchs took nine shots with six on goal. King's also held a 4-2 edge in corner kicks.
King's goalie Andrew O'Shura made nine saves while Valiant keeper Jason Torres posted six stops in registering his 11th shutout of the season
