Monarch Wrestlers Drop Narrow 21-18 Verdict to Centenary College

MONARCH WRESTLERS FALL TO CENTENARY COLLEGE
 
HACKETTSTOWN, NJ - - The King's College wrestling team fell to host Centenary College by a score of 21-18 in a Metropolitan Conference in a very tightly contested matchup on Friday night.
 
With the win Centenary improved to 1-4 overall record and a 1-0 conference mark, while King's fell to a 2-7 overall and 1-2 conference record.
 
Senior Taylor Green at 157-pounds improved to a 6-4 overall record as he pinned Glen Cannici at  6:30 to start cutting into the Cyclones deficit making the score 15-6.  Freshman Dave Foley was also victorious at 174-pounds pinning Charles Cannella at 3:36 to make things 18-12 in favor of Centenary.  Mike Reilly the junior two-time defending Metro champion improved to 13-0 and cut into the lead further by picking up the 5-0 victory over J.J. Mitchell at 184-pounds. Brendan Dwyer earned the 5-2 decision over Tim Tomaino at 197-pounds to tie the bout between the two teams at 18, which left the match to the two heavyweights. In spite of a good effort by senior Chris Rash he was defeated by Mike Hall by the score of 5-3, which gave the Cyclones the 21-8 victory.
 
King's  returns to the mat Wednesday with a 7:00 p.m. matchup at Delaware Valley College in Doylestown.
