KING'S TENNIS PICKS UP FIRST WIN OVER SUSQUEHANNA
ORLANDO -- The King's College tennis team won all but one match as the Monarchs rolled to a 8-1 and earning their first victory of the 2009 season over Susquehanna University in Orlando, Florida on Sunday.
The team won five straight singles matches while sweeping the three double matches that were played.
Jon Hand defeated William Mellor in a close three-set match by scores of 6-3, 7-6 (6-2). Hand later on teamed with
Povl Schmidt to take on the team of Mellor and Alec Green to pick up a 9-8 (7-5) doubles win. Schmidt also did well in his singles match defeating Matthew Quadrini by the score of 6-2, 6-3.
Blake Bonser defeated Matt Mitchell 6-3, 6-0.
David Kaluzavich had a victory in the third flight by defeating Green 6-0, 6-1. Bosner and Kaluzavich teamed up in doubles to pick up a 9-8, 6-4 victory over Mitchell and Quadrini.
Joe Guza picked up a victory in the number-five singles match over Grant Uber by scores of 6-2, 3-6, 10-8. Guza then teamed with
Tim Carroll to defeat Uber and Prescot by the score of 9-7.
The Monarchs continue their stay in sunny Orlando with a game on Monday against Morivian College.
