SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, PA (September 18, 2026) -- The King's College men's tennis team opened duals play on Friday afternoon at the Central PA Tennis Center, falling to Penn College of Technology by a score of 6-2. The Monarchs open the season with an 0-1 record while the Wildcats improve to 2-0 on the season.
 
Nate Linen opened the afternoon at No. 1 singles, dropping a pair of 6-4 sets. Logan Tomkins followed in the No. 2 singles flight and fell in straight sets by matching 6-0 scores. Gavin Hall provided one of the most competitive matches of the day at No. 3 singles, claiming the opening set 6-4 before his Penn College opponent answered with a 7-6 victory in the second. Hall forced a decisive third-set tiebreak but ultimately fell 10-4.
 
Zackary Bedwell secured the Monarchs' lone point of the afternoon in the No. 4 singles flight. After dropping the opening set 6-3, Bedwell responded with a dominant 6-0 second-set win before prevailing in a marathon tiebreaker, 13-11. At No. 5 singles, William Savner battled throughout but fell in straight sets, dropping a 6-2 first set before coming up short in a tightly contested 6-4 second set. The Monarchs did not field a competitor in the No. 6 singles match.
 
Doubles play saw Linen and Hall suffer a 6-1 setback at No. 1 doubles, while Tomkins and Bedwell fell by the same score in the No. 2 flight. Penn College was awarded the No. 3 doubles match by forfeit, helping secure a 6-1 team victory over the Monarchs.

King's returns to action next Thursday, playing host to Lycoming College at Kirby Park. First serve against the Warriors is slated for 3:00 p.m.
