KING'S MEN'S TENNIS DEFEATS ALVERNIA 6-3
READING – Playing its first match since March 5 during Spring Break, the King's College men's tennis team made a successful return to the court as the Monarchs opened its 2009 Freedom Conference schedule with a 6-3 victory over host Alvernia University Wednesday in Reading.
With the win, the Monarchs improved to 2-4 on the year. Alvernia, meanwhile fell to 0-6.
King's won two of the three doubles matches to start off the contest,, then captured four of the six singles bouts to clinch the victory
Jon Hand and Tim Carroll were both victorious in singles and doubles for the Monarchs. Blake Bonser, and David Kaluzavich were also singles victors for King's. Hand teamed with Povl Schmidt to post a win in the number-one doubles flight while Carroll paired up with David Chen to secure a victory in the third doubles slot.
King's is slated to travel to face Lycoming Thursday at 3:30 p.m. in Williamsport
