KING'S BASEBALL HOSTING FDU-FLORHAM IN FIRST ROUND OF FREEDOM CONFERENCE PLAYOFFS, VIEW LIVESTATS
WILKES-BARRE – The King's College baseball team will host the first round of the Freedom Conference playoffs in a Tuesday 3:30 p.m. matchup as they face FDU-Florham at Lipo Field in the Robert L. Betzler Athletic Complex.
Tickets for the game will be sold at the ticket table located by the field. Ticket prices for the day are listed by the conference office at $5 for adults, $4 for seniors, and $2 for students while children under age six will be admitted free.

The Monarchs enter the game with a 22-13-1 overall record and a 9-7 Freedom Conference mark after picking up a doubleheader victory over Eastern. The Devils have a 19-11-1 overall record and a 9-7 conference mark after dropping a 10-7 decision to Delaware Valley.
Leading the way for King's is sophomore Rob Fravel who has a .442 (57-129) average with five doubles, three triples, one home run and 29 RBI. Senior Jon Venarchick enters the game with a .441 (64-145) average with 15 doubles, nine triples, five home runs and 42 RBI. Junior Matt Unger contributes at .392 (49-125) with 11 doubles, two home runs and 35 RBI. Sophomore Jim Troianiello hits. 375 (27-72) with six doubles and 18 RBI. Eric Matula has a .374 (49-131) average with nine doubles, one triple, one home run and 18 RBI he also has a 3-5 record on the mound with a 5.03 ERA and 57 strikeouts in 59 innings.
For the pitchers, junior Dan Jenkins is 6-1 with a 4.35 ERA and 65 strikeouts in 72.1 innings. Senior Ryan Derry is 6-2 with a 5.35 ERA and 32 strikeouts in 38.2 innings.
FDU-Florham is led by Dan Pregno owns a .454 (59-130) average with 12 doubles, two triples, one home run and 27 RBI. Matt Oliveto follows at .433 (55-127) average with six doubles, five triples, six home runs and 47 RBI. Leading the way on the mound is Jake Hazen who is 4-0 with a 3.05 ERA and 29 strikeouts in 38.1 innings. Brandon Smith is 4-1 with a 3.96 ERA with 26 strikeouts in 38.2 innings.
The last time these two teams on April 5 they split a doubleheader with FDU-Florham winning game one by the score of 15-5 while King's picked up the 9-4 game two win.
The teams were tied for the fourth seed in the conference standing, but King's would gain the fourth and a home game spot by virtue of a conference tiebreaking procedure based on a comparison of each teams' win and loss record against the teams starting from the top of the standings. Both teams swept top-seeded Manhattanville and were each swept by second-seeded Wilkes. King's gained a split with third-seeded Alvernia while FDU was swept by Alvernia, thus giving the Monarchs the fourth seed.
The winner of the King's-FDU game will face top-seeded Manhattanville in the semi-finals of the Freedom Conference Tournament Friday at Bear Stadium in Boyertown.
