King's Volleyball Wins Albright Tourney

KING'S VOLLEYBALL WINS ALBRIGHT INVITATIONAL TOURNAMENT KACHINKO DRAWS TO WITHIN FIVE VICTORIES OF REACHING 400-WIN PLATEAU
 
READING – The King's College women's volleyball team claimed the team championship of the Albright College Invitational Tournament concluding Saturday in Reading. After defeating Albright 3-0 on Friday, the Lady Monarchs posted back-to-back 3-0 victories over Gwynedd-Mercy College and Alvernia University to claim the team title.

King's downed Gwynedd-Mercy by scores of 25-16, 25-17, 25-10, before dominating Alvernia 25-8, 25-16, 25-8. King's, which now stands at 11-3 on the year, brought head coach Bernie Kachinko within five victories of reaching the covet 400-win plateau. Kachinko currently owns a career mark of 395-252 in his 21st season at King's.

Against Gwynedd-Mercy, Kat Clerici registered nine kills while Kaitlyn Malshefski added eight. Danielle Belfanti posted 14 digs, 16 service points, and four aces while Shannon Ellis contributed seven digs. Kelly Greenway chipped in with 21 assists.
 
In the win over Alvernia, Clerici posted 13 kills and a solo block while Malshefski added six kills and one solo block. Belfanti tallied eight digs, six service points, and two aces while Colleen Grosenick contributed 10 service points and four aces. Greenway dished out 17 assists in the match.

King's returns to the court on Tuesday when the Lady Monarchs face 24th ranked Eastern University, the defending Freedom Conference champion, at 7:00 p.m. in Scandlon Gymnasium.
