KING'S VOLLEYBALL FALLS TO 23RD RANKED EASTERN, 3-0

WILKES-BARRE --  Defending Freedom Conference champion Eastern University showed exactly why it is ranked 23rd nationally in NCAA Division III as the Eagles posted a 3-0 victory over host King's College Tuesday in Scandlon Gymnasium.

Eastern, which won by scores of 25-10, 25-25, 25-18, improved to 10-1 on the year while King's fell to 11-3.

King's was led by Danielle Belfanti who posted 24 digs while Kelly Greenway added 21 assists and three digs. Kaitlyn Malshefski registered eight kills while Kat Clerici contributed six kills. Colleen Groesinick chipped in with five kills, five digs, and five service points.  With the loss, King's coach Bernie Kachink remained five victories from the 400-win plateau. Kachinko is now 395-253.

Eastern was led by All-American outside hitter Courtney Reinhold with 13 kills and two digs. Bridget Carey and Rachel Wenger added six kills each while Heather Kauffman tallied five kills. All-American setter Maria Horning distributed 38 assists with 10 digs and four kills while  Nikki Kummerer chipped in with 16 digs.

King's returns to action Saturday when the Lady Monarch travel to Gwynedd-Mercy College for a tri-meet with the Griffins and Bryn Athyn College.
