KING'S VOLLEYBALL DEFEATS BRYN ATHYN AND GWYNEDD-MERCY AS KACHINKO DRAWS TO WITHIN THREE VICTORIES OF REACHING 400-WIN PLATEAU
 
GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA – The King's College women's volleyball team defeated Bryn Athyn and Gwynedd-Mercy College in non-conference action on Saturday at Gwynedd Valley, PA
 
With the two victories King's improved to 13-4 on the season, while head coach Bernie Kachinko now draws to within needing three victories to reach the 400-Win Plateau
 
In the 3-0 victory over Bryn Athyn, the Lady Monarchs recorded scores of 25-6, 25-6, 25-11. Leading the way offensively was Colleen Grosenick with six kills and two digs. Kat Clerici and Samantha Gaekler both had five kills each, with Clerici also recording one solo block while Gaekler notched six service points. Setter Kelly Greenway had 19 assist for King's while libero Danielle Belfanti had two digs, six assists and five service aces. Shannon Ellis also contributed with 22 service points, three kills and three service aces.
 
The Lady Monarchs defeated host Gwynedd-Mercy 3-1 by scores of 25-17, 25-20, 23-25 and 25-14. Kaitlyn Malshefski led the match with 14 kills to go along with 10 serving points. Clerici continued a solid day with 10 kills with three solo blocks. Greenway posted 23 assists, while Belfanti continued a stellar defensive effort with 20 digs, eight service points, and one service ace. Jillian Foster contributed to the Lady Monarch victory with four digs, 11 serving points and two service aces.
 
King's returns to the court on Wednesday when the Lady Monarchs face cross-town rivals Wilkes University at 7:00 p.m. in Scandlon Gymnasium.
