KING'S FIELD HOCKEY POSTS 3-1 VICTORY OVER SCRANTON
WILKES-BARRE – Jenera Quinones scored a pair of goals to lead the King's College field hockey team to a 3-1 victory over the visiting University of Scranton Tuesay night at McCarthy Stadium in the Betzler Athletic Complex.
King's took a 1-0 lead 12:22 into the game when Shawna Walp drilled in a shot from just inside the circle following a corner by Danielle Terracciano.
Scranton would eventually tie the score at the 43:47 mark when Julie Ozycz redirected a shot from Beth McGlaughlin into the net just inside the left post. King's answered quickly however, when Jenera Quinones drilled a shot into the upper right half of the net just 0:28 later to give the Lady Monarchs a 2-1 lead.
The Lady Monarch lead grew to 3-1 at 59:43 when Quinones took a short interior pass from Shelby Trenge and slipped the ball inside the right post for her second score of the game.
King's outshot Scranton 8-7 while holding a 11-5 advantage in penalty corners. King's goalie Erin McGinley made five saves while Royals' keeper Deidre Rocklein posted three stops.
King's returns to the field Thursday with a 4:00 p.m. matchup at Misericordia University's Anderson Field.
