KING'S WOMEN'S SOCCER FALLS TO SUNY-NEWPALTZ, 2-0

 

ROCHESTER, NY – SUNY New Paltz scored a goal in each to post a 2-0 victory over the King's College women's soccer team in the opening round of the Rochester University Invitational Saturday in Rochester, NY.

 

With the win, New Paltz improved to 1-1 on the year while King's slipped to 0-2.

New Paltz took a 1-0 lead at 31:35 of the first half when Samantha Abravanel scored unassisted. New Paltz scored an insurance goal with 8:54 remaining as Alexa Balestrieri struck net, also unassisted.

King's was outshot 24=6 while New Paltz held a 12-2 advantage in corner kicks. Lady Monarch goalie Rachael Donatiello allowed one goal, making six saves while Melissa D'Aniello posted three stops, yielding one goal.

 

The Lady Monarchs will wrap up play in Rochester on Sunday when the Lady Monarchs play SUNY Fredonia at 1:00 p.m.
