MONARCH SOCCER EDGED BY SUSQUEHANNA, 3-2

SELINSGROVE – Jim Robertiello broke open a 2-2 tie at the 71:46 mark as host Susquehanna University posted a 3-2 victory over Kings College in a non-conference men's soccer matchup Tuesday night in Selinsgrove.

With the win, Susquehanna improved to 1-3 while King's slipped to 2-1.

The Monarchs battled back twice, first from a 1-0 deficit, then a 2-1 margin to knot the score. Robertiello gave the Crusaders a 1-0 lead just 2:04 into the contest.  King's Yehudi Maldonado tied the game at 1-1 off an assist from Joe Bender at 49:12. Susquehanna would recapture the lead just 12:29 later when Austin George converted a pass from Robertiello into a 2-1 Crusader advantage.

The Monarchs, however, would again tie the game when George Genco struck net unassisted 0:44 later to bring the score to 2-2. Susquehanna would score what proved to be the game-winner when Robertiello scored his second goal of the game off an assist by Andrew Cordell Carey with 18:12 left in the contest.

Both teams registered 12 shots in the game while Susquehanna held a 5-3 edge in corner kicks. Monarch goalie Tim Kelly made two saves in the contest.
