KING'S WOMEN'S SWIMMERS SPLIT TRI-MEET, MEN DROP TWO
WILKES-BARRE – The King's College women's swimming team split a tri-meet with Lycoming and FDU-Florham. Meanwhile, the Monarchs men fell to both squads during the tri-meet.
The Lady Monarchs downed FDU-Florham 64-58 while falling to Lycoming 83-35. The Monarchs fell to FDU-Florham 87-22, and then to Lycoming 79-14.
For the King's women the relay team of Carissa Cook, Susie Hughes, Maggie Nealer and Becca Smith won the 200-yard event with a time of 1:52.59. Nealer captured the 400-yard individual medley at 5:19.46, and placed third in the 200-yard freestyle at 2:08.32.
Smith placed second in the 1000-yard freestyle by posting a 11:56.68, and then finished third in the 500-freestyle event with the time of 2:31.20. Finishing in third place in the 200-yard medley relay was the team of Amanda Casey, Krystna Homanko, Cook and Nealer with a time of 2:07.55. Casey would later place third in the 100-yard backstroke event at 1:10.83, while Susie Hughes would place third in the 200-yard butterfly by posting a 2:44.99.
For the men Eric Stencovage was second in three events during the day. Stencovage swam a 24.48 in the 50-yard freestyle, then followed up with a 2:31.20 in the 200-yard backstroke, before timing out at 1:05.16 in the 100-yard butterfly.
King's will now head to Susquehanna University on Saturday for a 1:00 p.m. non-conference tri-meet with Crusaders and Drew University.
