WILKES-BARRE – On the day it learned it had been ranked 19th nationally in Division III, the King's College wrestling team dropped a 21-15 decision to 26th ranked Lycoming Tuesday night in Scandlon Gym.  With the loss, King's slipped to 12-9 on the year and saw its six-match win streak come to an end.  Lycoming, which avenged a 24-16 loss to the Monarchs two weeks ago, improved to 12-5.

Both teams won five matches on the night but Lycoming emerged on top thanks to bonus points accrued through a major decision, a technical fall, and one pin.

King's forged ahead when Taylor Green's 4-0 decision gave the Monarchs a 9-8 advantage after the 157-pound bout. Green improved to a team-best 18-4 with the victory. At 165. The Warriors again added a valuable bonus point when Chris Dahlheimer registered a 15-1 major decision over Jerry Robbins to put Lycoming on top 12-9.

The turning point of the match came at 174 when King's David Foley appeared to have a takedown of Lycoming's Kyle Crouthamel. Foley was unable to maintain position and was caught in a headlock as Crouthamel registered a critical pin in 1:01 to increase the Warrior lead to 18-9.  At 184, Troy Hayre added to the Lycoming lead with a 9-3 decision over Frank Marinucci to push the score to 21-9.

With two bouts left the Monarchs need a pair of falls to knot the match at 21-21. However, King's Peter Dwyer (14-6) was forced to settle for a 2-0 decision over Russel Korbul at 197 as Lycoming clinched the match with the decision loss. At 285, King's Chris Rash (13-5) cut the score to 21-15 with an 8-1 decision over Zach Eckstrom.
