KING'S FIELD HOCKEY DOWNS DELAWARE VALLEY 4-2 TO IMPROVE TO 2-0 IN FREEDOM CONFERENCE

DOYLESTOWN -- Calli Berryman (left) scored two goals added an assist while Danielle Terracciano also netted a pair of goals to power the King's College field hockey team to an important 4-2 Freedom Conference road victory over host Delaware Valley College Tuesday in Doylestown.

With the win, King's improved to 9-2 overall and 2-0 in conference play. Delaware Valley, meanwhile, slipped to 7-7 and 1-2 in league games.

Delaware Valley took a 1-0 lead 9:55 into the game when Leah Hawthorne scored off an assist by Rony Jacober. King's wasted little time in knotting the score when Terracciano struck net off an assist by Jenera Quinones just 0:44 later. The Lady Monarchs then forged ahead when Berryman scored off a double assist by Quinones and Shawna Walp as King's took a 2-1 lead into the halftime break.

In the second stanza, the Lady Monarchs built a 3-1 lead when Berryman netted her second goal off a pass from Shelby Trenge at 39:44. The lead swelled to 4-1 when Terracciano also added her second score off another double assist by Berryman and Walp.

The Aggies brought the final score to 4-2 on Rony Jacober's goal at the 50:43 mark.

King's outshot the host school 20-7 while holding a 9-3 advantage in penalty corners.  Lady Monarch goalie Erin McGinley picked up the win by making four saves.

 

The Lady Monarchs will return to action Thursday with a 1:00 p.m. home contest against Misericordia University as King's begins fall break.
