KING'S FIELD HOCKEY FALLS SHORT AGAINST EASTERN UNIVERSITY, 4-3

WILKES-BARRE -- Kim Campbell scored two goals, including the game-winner, and added an assist to propel Eastern University, ranked 10th nationally in NCAA Division III, to a 4-3 victory over host King's College in Freedom Conference play Saturday afternoon at McCarthy Stadium.

With the loss King's slips to 10-3 overall and 3-1 in conference play, while Eastern improves to 13-2 overall, and is still perfect at 4-0 in Freedom matches.

The Eagles opened up an early 1-0 lead just 1:53 into the contest when Jess Jaindl put home a cross from Cambell. King's responded as Jenera Quinones took a loose ball off a rebound and beat Eastern keeper Laura Ressler inside the right post to tie the game at 1-1. Just two minutes later, Eastern's Yvonne Herbster played give and go with Brittany Moyer and found the back left side of the net to give Eastern a 2-1 lead heading to the break.

In the second stanza, King's Calli Berryman would tie the score again when she tipped in a Shelby Trenge pass from the top of the circle at the 42:43 mark. Eastern was quick to respond and break the tie as Campbell scored her first goal unassisted at 46:44. The Lady Monarchs wasted no time in tying the game for a third time as Danielle Terracciano scored twenty seconds later off a cross from Berryman. Eastern would increase its pressure offensively and Campbell would deliver the game winner off a rebound from a Herbster attempt at 58:54. King's had one last effort offensively with under two minutes to play, but the Eagles defense tightened and held on for the 4-3 conference victory.

Eastern held a 21-7 shot advantage, while garnering 26 penalty corners to King's five attempts. Lady Monarch goalie Erin McGinley finished with nine saves, while Ressler made two stops to record the win in net for Eastern.

King's will return to action Wednesday when they travel to cross-town rival Wilkes University for a match scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at the Ralston Complex.
