KING'S WOMEN'S SWIMMING SWEEPS TRI-MEET IN 2010 SEASON DEBUT
WILKES-BARRE – The King's College women's swimming team opened the 2010 season with a sweep of Marywood University and Juniata College Saturday afternoon at the Scandlon Pool. The Lady Monarchs posted a 62-33 victory over Marywood, and a 57-37 win against Juniata.
King's was led by Patricia Manning with school records in both the 200 IM (2:19.28) and 100 breaststroke (1:13.47). Maggie Nealer finished second in both the 1000 freestyle (11:46.62) and 200 freestyle (2:09.98). Rebecca Smith captured third place in the 1000 freestyle at 11:53.32.
Other notable finishes for King's included Caitlin Casey (1st/50 freestyle/28.27), Krystna Homanko (2nd/100 freestyle/1:02.07), and Amanda Casey (2nd/100 backstroke/1:10.40).
The team of C. Casey, A. Casey, Homanko, and Smith took home first in the 200 freestyle relay.
King's will return to the pool Friday when they travel to Cabrini College for a tri-meet against both Cabrini and the College of Notre Dame scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
