FIELD HOCKEY HOSTS ALVERNIA UNIVERSITY IN NON-CONFERENCE PLAY WEDNESDAY NIGHT

 

WILKES-BARRE – The King's College field hockey team will return to the field Wednesday night as the Lady Monarchs welcome Commonwealth Conference foe Alvernia University to McCarthy Stadium at 7:00 p.m. King's has been idle since September 28th, including two postponed contests following the heavy rains in the Wyoming Valley.

King's enters the match with a 7-2 overall mark following a 3-2 loss in strokes against Elizabethtown College. Calli Berryman leads the attack with 21 points on seven goals and seven assists. Jenera Quinones follows with 16 points on six goals and four assists, while Shawna Walp adds 14 points on five goals and four assists. Goalie Erin McGinley has been solid in net for King's boasting a 0.97 goals against average with 41 saves, including a season-high 11 saves in the contest against Elizabethtown.

 

Alvernia stands 6-4 on the year after a 2-1 overtime loss at Elizabethtown on Saturday. Samantha Landis tops the Crusaders with 17 points on six goals and five assists. Tonya Rutt adds 15 points on six goals and three helpers, while Kyle Dillman chips in with 12 points on five goals and two assists. Alvernia keeper Abby Eby has a 1.74 goals against average with 71 saves in nine matches.

 

Following the match, King's will take to the road Tuesday for a Freedom match at Delaware Valley College scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
