KING'S FOOTBALL FACING FDU IN HOME FINALE AS 13 SENIORS TAKE McCARTHY STADIUM TURF FOR LAST TIME

WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College football team will play its final home game of the season Saturday when the Monarchs host FDU-Forham in a Middle Atlantic Conference matchup kicking off at 1:00 p.m. at McCarthy Stadium.

Kings enters the game with a 0-8 overall record  and an 0-5 mark in the MAC. FDU-Florham, meanwhile, is 3-5 overall and is also 0-5 in the MAC. The contest will mark the final home game for seniors Nick Beinke, Ryan Cain, John Cuiffo, Edwyn Edwards, Craig Geibert, Corey Lavin, Ken Loomis, Phil Marinelli, Ryan Nelson, Vince Pabst, Denzel Smith, and Mike Stampone.

ABOUT THE GAME:        
The game represents week-nine of the 2010 schedule. King's will be playing its fourth and final home game of the season. The game also marks the final home contest for 12 Monarch seniors who will be making their last appearance at McCarthy Stadium.        

ABOUT THE SERIES:       
This is the 18th meeting between the two programs with King's holding a 12-5 advantage. King's has won four of the previous five meetings and eight of the last 10, but FDU won the last contest by a 28-21 count a year ago. The last time King's lost to the Devils at home came exactly 11 years ago in Wilkes-Barre on November 6, 1999.  
      
THE COACHES:          
Monarch mentor Jeff Knarr is in his first season at King's after spending the past 11 years as an assist at Muhlenberg College, serving the final four as offensive coordinator. FDU-Florham coach Rich Mosca is in his ninth year with the Devils where he owns a 23-65 mark.   

LAST WEEK:       
King's traveled to Doylestown where the Monarchs suffered a 51-7 loss to MAC leader Delaware Valley, the eighth-ranked team nationally in Division III. FDU, meanwhile, dropped a 41-15 home decision to Albright for its fifth straight defeat.  
              
KING'S ON OFFENSE:    MULTIPLE - I                        
The Monarch offense is averaging 279.2 yards of total offense per-game. King's is averaging 204.9 passing yards per-game, but is last in MAC rushing at 74.4 yards each contest. Senior quarterback Corey Lavin runs the show and has completed  143-of-289 passes for 1,619 yards  with nine touchdowns and 11 interceptions.  The ground game is paced by sophomore tailback Eric Ofcharsky who tops the squad with 431 rushing yards on 115 carries with one touchdown, while catching 26 passes for 253 yards and one score.

Sophomore David Abdalla tops the receivers with 38 catches for 606 yards and averages 15.9 yards per-reception with three touchdowns. Senior  split end Jay Torres adds 29 catches for 400 yards and two touchdowns while junior wide-out Glenn Ford contributes 20 catches for 180 yards and one score. Junior fullback Jordan Haddock chips in with nine receptions for 43 yards.    

FDU-FLORHAM ON OFFENSE:    MULTI PRO-STYLE 
The Devil offense is averaging 312.5 yards of total offense per-game, including 110.8 rushing yards and 201.8 passing yards. Senior quarterback Matt Jeffers leads the Devil attack, completing 126-of-246 passes for 1,494 yards with 14 touchdowns and 13 interceptions while rushing for 203 yards on 53 carries. Jeffers made his first career start against King's last season and completed 20-of-42 passes for 260 and two touchdowns in leading FDU to victory. The running game is led by senior Brendon Griffin who has 328 yards on 88 carries while fellow senior Bayshawn Wells follows with 209 yards on 71 attempts.

Sophomore Doug Van Orden tops the receivers with 27 catches for 298 yards and one touchdown. Senior tight end Beau Reed follows with 18 receptions for 251 yards and one score while junior split end Tim Grey also adds 18 catches for 191 yards and two touchdowns. Senior Andrew Scamporino has made 17 receptions for 222 yards and two touchdowns while sophomore receiver Jon Bennett chips in with nine catches for 116 yards and three scores.     

KING'S ON DEFENSE:    MULTIPLE 3-4        
King's  has allowed 394.1 yards of total offense per-game, including  236.5 rushing yards and 157.6  passing yards. Sophomore linebacker Ryan Kelly is third in the MAC with 90 tackles, including 3.0 sacks and may become the fourth Monarch player to reach the 100-tackle plateau. Fellow second-year linebacker Ryan Cordingly follows with 64 tackles with 8.0 tackles for loss and 3.0 sacks for 22 lost yards. Sophomore defensive back Andrew Yablonsky contributes 35 tackles with two interceptions. Senior nose-guard Nick Beinke has posted 35 tackles with 4.5 tackles for loss and 2.0 sacks.

Senior defensive end Craig Geibert has made 32 tackles with 4.0 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks. Junior safety Jim McHugh has posted 32  tackles with three interceptions. Senior defensive end Ryan Nelson has 30 tackles with 4.0 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks, while sophomore linebacker Mike Briggs checks in with 27 tackles. Sophomore linebacker Matt Henry chips in with 27 tackles and 7.0 tackles for loss with 1.5 sacks  

FDU-FLORHAM ON DEFENSE:    3-4       
The Devils are allowing an average of 388.4 yards of total offense per-game, including 154.5 rushing yards and 233.9 passing yards. Junior linebacker Steve Hoverson tops the unit with 72 tackles, including  12.5 tackles for loss and 4.0 sacks. Sophomore linebacker Charles Thomas follows with 63 tackles with 4.0 tackles for loss. Senior safety Gino Abbate adds 55 tackles while sophomore safety Joe Mancini tallies 54 tackles with 2.5 tackles for loss and three interceptions.

Junior linebacker Ryan Daly has posted 49 tackles with 3.0 tackles for loss while senior cornerback Matt Porricelli contributes 46 tackles with three interceptions and seven passes broken up. Junior cornerback Steve Margolin has made 32 tackles while Junior tackle Gilbert Taylor chips in with 28 tackles, 6.0 tackles for loss, and 2.0 sacks.  
   
NEXT WEEK:       
King's will travel to face cross-town to face arch-rival Wilkes in the annual Mayor's Cup Game. Kickoff is slated for 1:00 p.m. at Wilkes' Ralston Field. King's won the 2009 Mayor's Cup Game 33-16 at home.
