MONARCH WRESTLERS FALL TO 8TH RANKED DELWARE VALLEY, 38-12
WILKES-BARRE – The Delaware Valley College wrestling team, ranked eighth nationally in Division III, won seven matches including three pins as the visiting Aggies posted a 38-12 victory over King's College Wednesday in Scandlon Gymnasium.
With the win, Delaware Valley improved its dual meet record to 2-1 while King's fell to 0-10 during its brutal early-season schedule as the Monarchs lost to their sixth nationally-ranked opponent of the semester.
Delaware Valley built a 20-0 lead after four matches before King's used a 10-4 decision by Tommy Desir at 157 to get on the scoreboard. After the Monarchs forfeited at 165, Jerry Robbins brought King's to within 26-9 after tallying a pin in 5:54 at 174-pounds. Mike Reilly, ranked third nationally in NCAA Division III at 184-pounds, followed with a 7-1 decision to cut the margin to 26-12. But the Aggies posted a pair of pins at 197 and 285 to close out the contest.
King's will be idle until January 8 with the PA/NY Duals at SUNY-Oswego.
