KING'S BASEBALL HOSTING CONFERENCE OPENER AGAINST MISERICORDIA UNIVERSITY ON FRIDAY
WILKES-BARRE - - The King's College baseball team will open its conference schedule on Friday when the Monarchs play host to Misericordia University at 3:30 p.m. at the Betzler Athletic Complex. The teams will then play a doubleheader at Misericordia Saturday at 1:00 p.m.

King's enters the 2010 conference opener with a 3-2 overall record after dropping a 15-13 non-league decision to Lebanon Valley College on Wednesday.
Senior Matt Unger contributes at .529 (9-17) with a double, a triple and seven RBI. Freshman Chris Sweeney enters with a .524 (11-21) average with five doubles, one triple and seven RBI. Senior Sean Rooney has a .350 (7-20) average with two doubles and one RBI. Freshman Rob Lemoncelli hits .333 (5-15) with one double and four RBI. Senior Eric Matula has a .333 (5-15) average with one double and four RBI. Senior Dan Jenkins is 1-0 with a 4.50 ERA and four strikeouts in two innings.
The Misericordia baseball team has a 7-2 overall record after dropping a 6-5 loss to Neumann University.
Nate Newman owns a .417 (15-36) batting average with a double, a triple three HR and nine RBI. Anthony Gonclaves follows at .391 (9-23) with four RBI. Jeff Slanovec stands at .381 (8-21) with two doubles and two RBI. Jamie Philippi has a .310 (9-29) average with three doubles, one triple and six RBI, while also going 2-0 on the mound with a 1.20 ERA, recording nine strikeouts in 15.0 innings. Bubba Jasinski stands at .308 (8-26) with three doubles and nine RBI. Brian Verdelli adds a .276 (8-24) average with two doubles and six RBI. For the pitchers, Matt Karabin is 2-0 with six strikeouts in 4.0 innings. Ryan Dauley is 2-1 with four strikeouts in 9.2 innings.
