KING'S BASEBALL HOSTING THE UNIVERSITY OF SCRANTON WEDNESDAY, VIEW LIVESTATS

 

WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College baseball team will return to the diamond on Wednesday when the Monarchs  host the University of Scranton in a 4:00 p.m. non-conference matchup at Lipo Field in the Robert L. Betzler Athletic Complex. 

 

King's, which enters the matchup with a 17-10 overall record after picking up a 6-4 11 inning victory over Moravian College on Tuesday. Ithaca meanwhile stands at 19-9 overall after splitting a doubleheader with nationally ranked University of Rochester on Tuesday.

Senior catcher Matt Unger paces the Monarchs with a .389 (35-90) average with six doubles, three triples, one home run and 25 RBI. Freshman Chris Sweeney follows at .388 (33-85) with 12 doubles, four home runs and 19 RBI. Sophomore outfielder Brian Mikus stands at .373 (28-75) with four doubles, three triples and 18 RBI. Senior Jeremy Bonser hits .370 (20-54) with five doubles, one triple, one home run and nine RBI. Freshman Mike Kusters adds a .316 (12-38) average with one double and nine RBI. Leading the way on the mound so far is senior Eric Matula is 4-1 with a 3.73 ERA and 29 strikeouts in 41 innings. Junior Tommy Rozelle  is 4-2 with a 4.15 ERA and 41 strikeouts in 34.2 innings. Senior Dan Jenkins is 3-0 with a 1.80 ERA and 16 strikeouts in 15 innings.

 

The University of Scranton is paced by Chris Stallone who is hitting .518 (29-56) with six doubles, one triple and 17 RBI. The pitchers are led by Corey Gorman who is 4-2 with a 7.07 ERA and 46 strikeouts in 35.2 innings.
