KING'S BASEBALL TEAM ROUTES PSU-HAZLETON, 17-5
 
WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College baseball team belted 24 hits as the Monarchs posted a 17-5 victory over Penn State Hazleton Wednesday at Lipo Field in the Betzler Athletic Complex.
 
With the win King's improved to 20-12 on the year.
 
After the Lions scored two runs in their opening at-bats, the Monarchs tide the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the first inning. King's added five more runs in the second and another in the fourth to take a 8-2 lead. After Penn State Hazleton scored three in the top of the seventh, King's substituted liberally and tallied two in the bottom half of the seventh, then blew the game open with seven runs in the eighth

A total of 12 different King's players registered at least one hit, headed by Chris Sweeney who was 3-for-4 with three RBI, including his sixth home run of the year. Jeremy Bonser was 3-for-3 with a double three RBI. Brian Mikus was 2-for-3 with three runs and a RBI while Rob Fravel went 2-for-3 with two runs scored.  Rob Lemoncelli, Sean Rooney, and Mike Kusters added two hits apiece.
 
King's will travel to Purchase, NY on Friday for a single Freedom Conference game before the squads play again Saturday at King's in a 1:00 p.m. doubleheader.
