King's Baseball Hosting Penn State Wilkes-Barre Sunday

KING'S BASEBALL HOST PENN STATE WILKES-BARRE ON SUNDAY, VIEW LIVESTATS

 

WILKES-BARRE - - The King's College baseball team will host one final home game before entering into the 2010 Middle Atlantic Conference Playoffs on Wednesday. The Monarchs will return to the diamond on Sunday to host Penn State Wilkes-Barre in a Noon non-conference double header at Lipo Field in the Robert L. Betzler Athletic Complex.

King's enters the contest with a 21-14 overall record and a 12-9 conference mark after picking up double-header split with Manhattanville College on Saturday.

 

Senior catcher Matt Unger tops the team with a .414 (48-116) average with 10 doubles, three triples, two home runs and 36 RBI. Senior Jeremy Bonser hits .397 (31-78) with 10 doubles, one triple, one home run and 19 RBI. Freshman Chris Sweeney has a .389 (44-113) average with 16 doubles, five home runs, one triple and 24 RBI. Sophomore outfielder Brian Mikus stands at .381 (40-105) with eight doubles, three triples, one home run and 27 RBI. Freshman Mike Kusters adds a .326 (14-43) average with one double and 10 RBI. Leading the way on the mound so far is senior Eric Matula is 5-2 with a 4.44 ERA and 37 strikeouts in 50.2 innings. Junior Tommy Rozelle is 5-3 with a 3.94 ERA and 54 strikeouts in 48.0 innings. Senior Dan Jenkins is 3-1 with a 2.11 ERA and 19 strikeouts in 21.1 innings.

 

The Monarchs will return to action on Wednesday as they head to Center Valley to face DeSales University for the start of the 2010 MAC Playoffs. Time is to be determined, updates on the playoffs can be found on www.kingscollegeathletics.com
